"Innovation is one of the hallmarks of our company and what has led us to what we are today"

Located in the town of Villamalea, the Cooperative Society Champinter It has been dedicated to mushroom cultivation for four decades. Forty years creating jobs, growing to become a benchmark at the national level. And from there, abroad, with exports to numerous countries.

The Commercial Director of Champinter is Eduardo Martínez Jiménez, who in these lines gives us a balance of the company he represents.

QUESTION: For anyone who doesn't know you, what is Champinter and what does he do?

ANSWER: "Champinter is dedicated to the production and marketing of cultivated mushrooms, both fresh and canned, encompassing all the production processes for it".

Q.: In which countries is your company present?

R .: “We are currently exporting within the European Union to Portugal, Italy and France. Outside the EU directly to Israel, the US, Venezuela, the Dominican Republic… and indirectly to Jordan, Saudi Arabia or Morocco”.

Q.: Is it important to innovate and seek continuous improvement in your sector? Have you made recent investments in this regard? 

R .: “It is one of the hallmarks of our company and what has led us to what we are today. For this we make continuous investments (Largest compost plant in Spain, IFS, BRC, FDA and GLOBALGAP quality certifications in cultivation, European patent for a mushroom washing process in IV range, laboratory for the production of our own mushroom seed ). In addition to working with the best machinery for the production of mushrooms at the moment worldwide”.

Q.: We imagine that this year is special for you as you celebrate your 40th Anniversary.

R .: "Of course, this year we look back and realize the continuous progress our company has had, in addition to making us see how far we still have to go to continue being more competitive and better every day and last another 40 years" .

Q.: What do you think could be the reason for your company's success to remain competitive in the market?

R .: “All of the above, innovation, investment and always continuous improvement. Knowing how to unlearn, to relearn what is necessary about everything. Continually reset ourselves and, from humility, reinvent ourselves”.

Q.: You belong to the Association of Importers and Exporters of Albacete,

ADIEX. How do you see the work carried out by the association?

R .: “We have been in the association for a short time and we have not yet been able to work with it. The idea is, based on the experience of its associates, as well as our own, that we can help each other to increase foreign markets for Albacete companies. Look for synergies that may arise, as well as address joint operations”.

Q.: What aspects do you think should be improved or strengthened from ADIEX?

R .: “Above all, explore the synergies between companies, which I have commented on in the previous point. Also training, collaboration and help from the professionals of the association to all the companies that form it”.
