Berria Bike designs and manufactures bicycles for sports use for several years. A company in continuous growth thanks to the customization of its products, a competitive advantage with which they offer a differential, unique and exclusive design. With their factory now installed in Villarrobledo, they give a quick response to their customers and distributors. David Vitoria Cano is the CEO of Berria Bike and in this interview he explains a little better the work of his company.
QUESTION: In which countries is your company present?
ANSWER: “We are at a national level and we have a certain presence in South America. Basically we are focusing on Colombia as an important country for our export. In this sense, we have an export of approximately 7%, of which 5% is Colombia".
Q.: Do you plan to disembark in other countries?
A.: “At the moment we have a long way to go both nationally and in Colombia, which is the country we are addressing, to disperse and open more markets”.
Q.: You work in a sector in which new materials emerge with which to improve products. Is it important to innovate and seek that continuous improvement for Berria Bike?
R .: “At Berria we have an internal development committee with monthly meetings and then the great innovations that come annually. There is innovation both at the level of materials applicable to the construction of the frames, especially in carbon fiber which is where we are focusing, as well as other technological innovations in components. At Berria Bike we are very attentive to all these innovations and their application in a short time. When news comes out we are very quick to react”.
Q.: What are the new arrivals for 2019?
R .: “We already presented the promotion for 2019 in June and we began to market it. Yes, we are currently working on increasing our range of products at the electric bicycle level. We are practically replicating what our traditional bicycles are in an electric version. For example, we have just released the electric road bike, but we are already going to make an evolutionary one. In the end we are doubling the range of traditional bicycles, but with assisted pedaling”.
Q.: Apart from these innovations in terms of products and materials, you have also made a change of facilities to face growth in the coming years...
R .: “We have been in Villarrobledo for a year now, in the new facilities, with which we have greatly increased production capacity. This has also allowed us to be much more efficient and shorten delivery times”.
Q.: What do you think could be the reason for your company's success to remain competitive in the market?
R .: “There are a group of factors that help us to be competitive in the market. On the one hand, there is the attractiveness of the product, because we have a product that is being liked for its benefits, for its price, and the best sign in this regard is that we have repeat customers. Thus we also have loyal customers, plus those who join new ones. Another factor is the flexibility that we give stores with our customization program that allows us to adjust the bike to the needs and tastes of customers. And having a very fast supply chain allows us to respond to needs in a very short time. This may be one of the most important factors, because most of our competitors have very long supply times by having productions in other countries”.
Q.: You belong to the Association of Importers and Exporters of Albacete, ADIEX. How do you see the work carried out by the association?
R .: “We are part of ADIEX and we receive communications from everything they organize through FEDA. I know that informative breakfasts are being held, the last one on France and Denmark, which I found interesting but due to the schedule I couldn't go”.
