Exports from the region in 2021 rise 25% compared to the previous year

The growth of exports from Albacete was 11,7%, according to the latest report prepared by the Territorial Directorate of Commerce-ICEX in Castilla-La Mancha

Exports from Castilla-La Mancha between January and December 2021 reached the figure of 9.052 million euros, which represents an increase of 25,9% compared to 2020. In Spain, exports increased by 21,2%, standing at 316.609 million of euros.

This is clear from the latest report prepared by the Territorial Directorate of Commerce-ICEX in Castilla-La Mancha, with data provided by the AEAT Customs Department to this Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Tourism. These values ​​are nominal, so they include the high price growth that is being experienced internationally, as reported by ICEX in a press release.

By provinces, in 2021 Guadalajara occupied the first position, with 2.443 million euros of exports (+35,8%); Ciudad Real with 2.356 million is in second place (+28,6%); Toledo is the third exporting province, with 2.324 million euros (+20,8%), followed by the provinces of Albacete with 1.152 million euros (+11,7%), and Cuenca, with 777 million euros, which registers an increase in exports of 29,2%.

For their part, imports from the region reached 11.106 million euros, representing an increase of 19,6%, while in Spain they rose 24,8% to 342.787 million. By importing provinces, Guadalajara was in first place, with an increase of 20,1%, followed by Toledo (+20,4%), Ciudad Real (+38,3%), Albacete (+4,4%), and Cuenca (6,6%).

The region's trade balance in December 2021 therefore stood at -2.054 million euros, a deficit that fell by 2,1% compared to the same month of the previous year; while the coverage rate (Xs/Ms) stood at 81,5%, still clearly lower than the national average (92,4%).

Between January and December 2021, agri-food products occupied the first position in regional exports with 2.881 million euros, representing 31,8% of the total exported by Castilla-La Mancha and registering an increase of 9,0% compared to the same period of 2020. The sector is led by Beverages with 900 million euros, whose sales increased by 2,9%.

The Meat sector is in second place with 624 million, registering an increase of 4,7%. Fruit, vegetables and legumes rose by 8,1% (€433 million). Dairy and egg exports rose 10,2% (324 million euros), and oil exports reached 257 million euros, with strong growth of 35,2%.

Next, Capital Goods stand out with 2.132 million and an increase of 24,6%, (electrical appliances, telecommunications equipment and machinery, mainly), while in third and fourth place are Chemical Products (+91,0 %) and Consumer Manufactures (+10,8%), with 1.469 and 994 million, respectively. In this period, non-chemical semi-manufactures rose 44,3%, reaching 909 million.

Capital Goods stood out above the rest (3.646 million euros), with an increase of 14,7%, highlighting office and telecommunications equipment with 1.559 million euros (+12,2%). The second importing sector is that of Chemical Products with 1.883 million euros, with an increase of 1,8%, while the third place is occupied by Agri-food Products with a value of 1.745 million, which in this period have increased by 17,4, XNUMX%.

Destination countries

Between January and December 2021, the EU accounted for the bulk of the region's exports, representing 70,7% of the total. In the Euro zone, Portugal is our main client with 1.812 million euros (+25,0%), followed by France with 1.374 million (+26,7%), Italy with 823 million (+49,2%) and Germany. with 741 million euros (+8,8%). On the other hand, outside the EU, exports to the United Kingdom stood at 327 million, with an increase of 4,2%; to Turkey they were 246 million (+59,4%) and to Russia 68 million (-3,6%).

Outside our closest environment, exports to the United States (281 million, -12,2%), Canada (50 million, +39,6%), Mexico (101 million, 26,1%), Brazil ( 33 million, +13,7%), Chile (33 million, +75,4%), and Argentina (12 million, -3,4%). On the other hand, we highlight Morocco (150 million, +14,9%), Algeria (26 million, -30,9%) and the Middle East (219 million, +5,6%). In Asia, China stands out with 338 million (+35,9%) and Japan (87 million, -0,6%), while South Korea reaches 51 million (+42,8%).

As for imports, 70,9% come from the Community (Germany and France, mainly). Outside the EU, 11,2% from the main non-EU supplier, China, stands out, with 1.244 million, which rose 36,1% compared to the same period of the previous year.
