FEDA Innovation Laboratory: What, how and why to innovate in companies

Jimmy Pons gave with great success the FEDA INNOVATION Laboratory, framed within the III Cycle of Innovation and Internationalization 2018

Technology is advancing at an unprecedented speed, it is changing the way we manufacture, buy and interact. Are our companies prepared to sell to the new types of customers?

The laboratory has been organized by the FEDA International and Innovation Areas, from his membership in the Enterprise Europe Network, and had the collaboration of BBVA, and institutions as important at the regional level as IPEX and CECAM, under the technical direction of the Association of Importers and Exporters of Albacete, ADIEX.

The speaker reviewed in an agile, dynamic and very clear way all the current technological advances in the market and launched open messages to the attendees: “Robotics, process automation with artificial intelligence, chat bots, we are letting machines make decisions that we used to make before us, and it's not science fiction anymore."

The Laboratory sparked an interesting debate among the 25 participating SMEs and freelancers, the use of creativity, intangibles and personalization as differential factors are essential in a market that is many times faster than the company's own planning . The main conclusion of the attendees is that innovation must be focused on the client. In the words of Jimmy Pons "we live in a VUCA world (Volatile, Uncertain, Complex and Ambiguous) where the only sure thing is constant change".

Innovation does not arise by itself, and it also requires the important creative process, leadership, planning and example on the part of the management team of the companies, otherwise it loses impact and generates uncertainty in the work teams.

Within the What, How, and Why structure, you have to start with the Why, and here emotional intelligence plays an important role not only for the customer but also for the SME itself. The participants developed their own exercises in which they exchanged their experiences with the speaker. The Laboratory has been evaluated with a very high score of 9,09/10, it has been very dynamic and impactful and, above all, it has left clear messages and innovation management tools.

Phrases by Jymmi Pons, on which ideas were developed within the FEDA INNOVATION Laboratory.

  • "New unexpected actors are born, are we preparing for it?"
  • “And what do traditional companies normally do in the face of changes? Are you clinging to your comfort zone tooth and nail?”
  • “Innovate and differentiate from the first moment. We must integrate it into the Business DNA”
  • “A brand is much more than a logo and a corporate identity. You have to do Brandig.”
  • “Not everything is invented, but not everything is valid either. Structure your model, develop a project file with deadlines and follow-up”.
  • "If your company is small, it is important to encourage talent and internal and external collaboration."
  • "Do not demand sacrifices from your client, you will lose him easily."

Innovation is not a fad, it has been established in society forever, only now there is more speed and more technology, it is easy to fall behind in the market, however it is not just about technology, it is about a change of mentality, processes and decision making. In today's world there will be two types of companies: the agile and the dead. It's not easy, but you have to start. Investigate, test, get to know new environments and evaluate the best time to undertake changes that streamline and improve customer service.
