China, the first wine market outside of Europe

The vice president of Castilla-la Mancha, José Luis Martínez Guijarro, met yesterday in the Chinese city of Chengdu, with representatives of the Chamber of Commerce of Wine of this city to promote the Castilian-La Mancha wines, increasingly present in this market .

The Vice President of the Board highlighted the increase in national exports of Castilla-La Mancha wines that has been experienced in recent years. In fact, exports have gone from close to 33 million euros in 2015 to over 43 million in the past financial year 2018.

Given the expansion that the Chamber of Commerce of Wine is experiencing in Chengdu, its president, Zhou Jingson, has proposed to the Castilian-La Mancha delegation the possibility of installing a Castilla-La Mancha office in this Chinese city with the aim of promoting the Castilla-La Mancha wine culture in China and the organization of visits to the region to learn about the producing regions.

CHENGDU WINE FAIR. It is a proposal that the regional Executive will study with all the denominations of origin, in addition to putting the Chengdu Wine Chamber of Commerce in direct contact with them in order to address joint promotion actions. In addition, some twenty wineries from Castilla-La Mancha will participate in the Chengdu Wine Fair from March 22 to 25.

This meeting with the representatives of the Chengdu Wine Chamber of Commerce is the first of the events scheduled on the agenda of the regional vice president and the Minister of Agriculture, Water and Rural Development during their visit to this Chinese city, where they will participate in the XNUMXst Sichuan Twin Cities 'Belt and Road' International Cooperation and Development Forum.
