Castilla-La Mancha exceeds 7.500 million euros in exports in 2019

The region adds ten consecutive years breaking records in foreign sales

In the month of December the historical record for the end of the year was reached despite the complex international situation

Castilla-La Mancha surpassed the bar of 7.500 million euros in exports last year and adds a decade of continuous growth that has led it to beat its sales in the foreign market ten times in a row.

Exports of Castilian-La Mancha companies grew by 3,04 percent last year and were close to doubling the behavior of foreign sales for the country as a whole, which increased by 1,69 percent compared to 2018. The end of the year also leaves two pieces of good news regarding the behavior of the region's foreign business, which despite the complex international situation recorded the best historical record for a month of December at the end of a year in which four of the five provinces they beat their export figures.

Foreign sales of Castilla-La Mancha already have a new bar to beat: 7.527,35 million euros. It is the balance at the end of 2019 published today by the Ministry of Economy, which confirms what the monthly breakdown of the year had been pointing out: a new record in terms of exports for the region. Castilla-La Mancha thus registers its tenth consecutive year of increase and, therefore, also breaks its historical record in export figures for the tenth consecutive year, adding to this record that in four of the five Castilian-La Mancha provinces have reached the highest numbers in foreign sales in history.

"Exports are growing and they are doing so at a rate higher than the national average, which speaks highly of the dynamism in the foreign market of the companies of Castilla-La Mancha", highlighted the Minister of Economy, Business and Employment of the regional Executive Patricia Franco, who highlighted two factors: the fact that growth has been almost generalized, in four of the five provinces, and that exports have also grown for ten years at a rate always above 3 percent. "These two factors tell us about sustained and stable growth, always at a rate higher than or at least equal to that of the country as a whole and that has led us to break the historical record in exports from Castilla-La Mancha for the tenth consecutive year" , she underlined.

The increase in foreign sales in the region, throughout 2019, had been supported by a stable path throughout the entire year, but was boosted by a month of December that has also been a historical record for the region , exceeding 593,5 million euros. The figure means breaking the 564,69 million euros registered in December 2016, a record that occurs in a scenario of complex international conjuncture, especially in some of the main destination markets for regional exports, with a confirmed Brexit, although not yet consummated, and the entry tariffs to the United States already settled.

"The end of last year coincided with a complex scenario on the international scene that could negatively affect exports due to the uncertainty it generated, but foreign sales in December have confirmed the momentum of our companies in their internationalization," Patricia Franco has highlighted, who has influenced the commitment of the regional Executive to reinforce the work of international promotion of those sectors affected by both circumstances and the emphasis on the diversification of markets pursued by the Operational Plan approved for this year by the Promotion Institute Abroad.

The record in 2019 in exports from Castilla-La Mancha has also meant that four of the five provinces record their best export records, with Guadalajara in the lead, exceeding 2.000 million euros for the first time (2.020,36 million euros), and records also for Toledo (1.875,26 million euros), Albacete (1.128,07 million euros) and Cuenca (529,64 million euros); to which must be added the more than 1.974 million euros from the province of Ciudad Real, which has recorded the third best annual record in terms of foreign sales.

This almost generalized growth by territories was also transferred to the structural sectors of the Castilian-La Mancha economy, such as food and beverages, with a growth of 1,01 percent to reach 2.553,50 million euros in the 2019, and capital goods, which grew by 5,76 percent, exceeding 1.697 million euros in 2019.
