Castilla-La Mancha is committed to expanding the culture of wine among young people through tastings in the region

The president of the Albacete Provincial Council, Santiago Cabañero, has accompanied the Minister of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Development of Castilla-La Mancha, Francisco Martínez Arroyo, in the presentation of a tasting program aimed at promoting knowledge of the culture of the It came within the framework of a collaboration agreement between the Tierra de Viñedos Foundation and the Interprofessional Wine Organization of Spain.

The initiative has been applauded by the person in charge of the highest provincial institution, who has underlined the importance of each and every one of the measures that, like this one, are put in place in order to continue growing a flagship sector in our land as the winemaker

39 wine tastings aimed at young audiences

It is a reality that the foreign trade of C-LM wine is improving its figures day by day: The regional agri-food industry contributes 35% of total exports (where the wine sector currently represents around 10%). . In addition, only in the first nine months of last year, the value of exported wine increased by 15% over the same period of the previous year.

However, the great challenge that is still pending is that of the internal market, since ours continues to be one of the regions with the lowest per capita consumption, something that the Ministry of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Development has proposed to reverse, for example , through measures like this one that has been presented today and that the president of the Provincial Council, Santiago Cabañero, has highlighted as great news for such a key sector in our province as wine.

In total, 39 tastings are scheduled to be held throughout our region. With them, it is intended to reach young people between 25 and 40 years of age, who will be the consumers of the future in this benchmark sector, and for whom it is essential to initiate and develop a wine culture (always with moderate consumption, framed in the Mediterranean diet) that has been lost in the whole of Spain in recent decades, also affecting Castilla-La Mancha. For this, these tastings will be carried out in establishments, pubs, gastrobars, etc. frequented by young people in selected locations within this particular 'route'. They will be directed by experts and professionals, and are not aimed at a too specialized recipient, but rather at someone who wants to learn more about wine. Between 25 and 30 people may participate in each appointment.
