Agraria San Antón faces new projects

The cooperative, which is a benchmark in the sector, plans to promote the almond section, a key product in the sector

The San Antón Agrarian Cooperative is a reference in the region. Its financial director, María Ángeles Cuesta, referred to the projects in which they are currently involved and explained which ones are planned in the short and medium term.
«We are currently involved in the production and marketing of certified seed, always maintaining a high level of quality. We also plan, for the next cereal campaign, to start working with an organic product that is in high demand in the agri-food sector," said Cuesta.

"In the medium term, we plan to launch the almond section, which will undoubtedly be a key product in the sector in the coming years and which already has a large presence in the area," he added.

BENEFIT FOR THE PARTNER, The financial director of the Agraria San Antón cooperative stressed that "there is a certain belief that the social form of the Cooperative largely conditions its evolution and development, but we believe that the key is to organize itself as a company at a financial and commercial level, always have qualified personnel and of course give priority to the benefit for the member. Therefore, we do not consider that a cooperative should have any type of limitation when it comes to growing and developing new projects”.

Regarding the moment that Agraria San Antón is experiencing, he highlighted that "it is a cooperative that has a long history in the cereal sector, and that since its constitution in 1984 has had very involved members and that today enjoys a great stability."

«Despite being a traditional company, it is currently facing new projects such as what has already been said about nuts and organic cereal. In addition, in recent years it has begun to export to countries like Turkey," said María Ángeles Cuesta.

In relation to the pending subjects that the cooperative sector has, Cuesta indicated that «farms usually pass through the family to the new generations, in this sense, encourage women to also take charge of them. Today, many women are well-prepared to run their farms and still have a lot to contribute in this sector."

To conclude, and in relation to the digital age in which we are immersed where everything is 4.0 or 'smart' and asked if this revolution has also reached the cooperative, she indicated that "without a doubt there have been many changes at the level technologies that are incorporated by leaps and bounds into the day-to-day of the company, although it is true that in this sense in the cooperative world there is still a long way to go digitally speaking. To the extent that we know how to adapt and make useful and specific use of these new technologies, we will be able to improve our management and be more competitive”, stated the financial director of the Agraria San Antón cooperative.
