Albacete exports grew by 18% until February

The first two months of 2020 accounted for close to 203 million euros in turnover for companies in the province in other countries, especially in the agri-food industry

Exports from the province began 2020 with more than remarkable growth, although the data collected is not enough to measure the impact of the health crisis and the forced stoppage in many industrial sectors and companies. The data that the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Tourism updated yesterday based on the indicators of the Customs department of the Tax Agency is that of foreign trade for February, and allows us to see that, in two months, companies from Albacete increased by more than one 18% of its turnover in other countries, compared to 2019. It is an increase that is well above that of Castilla-La Mancha (4,3%) and that of the entire country (3,5%).

In two months, at the beginning of the year, exports of products and services from the province of Albacete were worth 202,7 million euros, a turnover figure that again remains well below those of three of the other four Spanish provinces. Mancha. The provinces of Guadalajara (334,6 million), Toledo (321,9 million) and Ciudad Real (287 million) also billed more in exports this year, and the province of Cuenca (97,4 million) billed less than Albacete. Albacete contributes 16% of the region's exports, but only 0,4% of the exports of the entire country in terms of turnover. The report from the Ministry of Industry says that what the province sells the most outside of Spain to you Nor of the 2020 figures are food and beverages, more than 67 million euros, a third of everything exported. They are followed by capital goods, with 55,8 million invoiced in two months, more than 27% of exports.

At the regional level, the Territorial Directorate of Commerce-ICEX used the data known yesterday to say that agri-food products also occupied the first position in regional exports with 400 million euros, 32,2% of the total exported by Castilla-La Mancha. , but this data represents "a stagnation compared to the same period of 2019". The sector is led by beverages with 134 million euros, whose sales fell by 12,8%. The meat sector is in second place with 85 million, representing 6,8% of the total and registering an increase of 34,8%. Fruit, vegetables and legumes grew by 3,8% (66 million), while oil exports fell by 23,8%, to 31 million. As in Albacete, in second place as an export sector is capital goods, with 307 million, an increase of 25,7%.

While exports rise, internal demand in the province is reduced, because imports fall, which the province buys abroad. In two months, products and services worth 138,8 million were imported, 0,9% less.
